If you've ever been in front of a camera and you're not a professional model, you may have experienced that awkward moment of "what do I do with my hands?!?" and all of a sudden you forget how to stand. It's ok, we've all be there.
I've put together a quick guide of helpful poses and ideas of what to do with those hands. 😉 Check it out!
HANDS ON HIPS
Usually the most common response to being in front of the camera, but have fun with it! Move around, twist your hips, strike a pose, look over your shoulder, kick up a leg.
PLAY WITH CLOTHING
The clothes on your back can be the perfect place for your hands. Whether it's a hood, a jacket, pockets, a hat (highly recommend), scarf, etc., etc. The list could go on!
HANDS ON RAILING
Doesn't just have to be a railing, but play around with one hand vs two hands. Or try facing forward and backwards, even to the side. Use the environment around you to create unique yet natural poses!
TOUCH FACE
This is one of my favorite poses! It can work in a varies of ways, everything from cute and shy to mysterious and sensual. Try this one with two hands for a moody vibe.
HANDS IN FRONT + BEHIND
Interlocking the fingers around to body can create some very cute poses, especially when you add in movement from the rest of the body or change the facial expressions.
ABOVE HEAD
I love having people put their hands above their head! It can be a bit awkward/vulnerable feeling at first, so I usually save it for later in the shoot, but it creates a freeing vibe and looks great from a lower angle.
POWER POSE
Strike 👏🏻 a 👏🏻 pose 👏🏻 and get into it! There are so many types of "power poses" so let loose and do the one that makes you feel most confident. Then do it again. And again. And one more time. This was Larisa's "bad b*tch power pose" and I'm in LOVE!
What other pose ideas do you have? I'd love to hear them!
Cheers,
